Local Lifestyle Guide

Settling into Harkaway requires a car for most errands, as the suburb sits tucked away in the leafy hills of the Gangarowba Reserve area. While the atmosphere is quiet, getting essentials is straightforward once you head toward the shops in Berwick or Narre Warren. Most sitters find that a quick drive provides easy access to large supermarkets and medical clinics. If you are watching a dog, the sprawling bushland trails surrounding the residential streets offer excellent morning walking routes, though sticking to established paths is best to avoid thick scrub. For a change of pace, the nearby café strips in Berwick provide a reliable spot for a coffee or a quick lunch. Local markets occasionally pop up nearby, offering fresh produce that suits a relaxed lifestyle. Public transport options are limited within the immediate residential pockets, so planning trips to the train stations in neighboring suburbs is key. This area suits those who enjoy a slower rhythm and don't mind a short commute for daily necessities.
