House sit YASS

Settling into Yass means embracing a slower rhythm, where daily routines unfold against a backdrop of rolling hills. Your mornings with a borrowed dog might begin with a quiet walk along the Yass River. The path, unpaved in sections, offers natural scents for a curious companion. For a more structured outing, Riverbank Park provides open grass and shade, suitable for a mid-morning stretch before the sun gets too high. Local residents often nod a greeting, a small town pleasantry you'll quickly adopt. For your own sustenance, cafes along Comur Street offer a comforting start to the day. Clementine and Ewe'N Me serve robust coffee and simple, hearty breakfasts, where locals gather. Lunch might involve picking up fresh bread from the bakery or a pie from the award-winning Black Swan. Evenings often center around the local pubs – the Yass Hotel or the Commercial – where straightforward meals and a quiet atmosphere prevail. These spots aren't about flashy menus but honest, satisfying fare, reflecting the town's grounded character. Exploring beyond immediate walking routes, consider a drive to Cooma Cottage, a historic property offering a glimpse into colonial life, easily combined with a longer walk through surrounding fields if your pet is permitted and contained. Weekends might bring a small market to the showground, offering local produce or crafts. Public transport is minimal, so plan walking routes from your temporary home or rely on a car for anything further afield. Enjoy the quiet hum of a town that values its past and cherishes its open spaces; it’s a calm backdrop for caring for someone else’s home and their animals.
