House Sitting in surry hills, 2010

Morning starts with the low hum of Crown Street, where the scent of roasted beans drifts from corner bakeries. Walking a dog here feels effortless because the streets are compact and highly connected. You might find yourself looping around Prince Alfred Park for an early stretch before the midday heat sets in. Most errands disappear into a short stroll; groceries and supplies are tucked into the narrow lanes between terrace houses, making it easy to manage house duties without needing a car. As the afternoon light hits the brickwork, the pace shifts toward the quiet corners of the neighborhood. A slow walk toward the edge of the CBD offers a sense of scale, yet the residential pockets remain surprisingly still. After a midday walk, sitting on a stoop or a local bench provides a steady view of the local rhythm. Evening brings a different energy, as the neighborhood transitions from quiet residential life to the steady glow of local dining, all within walking distance of Central Station.
