Alternatively, access the Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail directly from town for longer excursions, where you can walk or cycle for miles through open country, ensuring pets are well-exercised before you settle in for the day. After these outdoor routines, grab a coffee and a pastry from a local spot on Commercial Road before returning to the quiet comfort of your temporary home. The town's small scale means most amenities are a short walk away, simplifying daily errands and maintaining a consistent schedule for any animals in your care. Grocery runs are straightforward, and the local butcher offers quality options for your own meals. Weekends offer opportunities for broader exploration around your pet-sitting commitments. Drive the short distance to Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, arranging your visit to observe kangaroos and emus in their natural habitat while your charges are secure. For a bracing dose of ocean air, the beaches near Port Fairy are easily reachable.
