House sit COCKATOO
Assignment Requirements
Our home is a cozy cottage-style property nestled in the beautiful hills of Cockatoo, Victoria. Set on approximately 1.5 acres, it offers a peaceful and relaxing environment surrounded by nature, abundant birdlife and the charm of country living.
The house has two bedrooms, a comfortable living area, a well-equipped kitchen and all the conveniences needed for a comfortable stay. During the cooler months, the wood fireplace creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect place to relax with a book or movie. We also have reliable Wi-Fi, a 75-inch Smart TV with streaming services, and everything you need to feel at home.
During your stay, you're welcome to choose between our master bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed or the second bedroom with a queen-size bed. Snow is accustomed to sleeping on the floor beside our bed in the master bedroom, so if you'd enjoy his company overnight, you're welcome to use that room. If you'd prefer your own space, the queen bedroom provides a comfortable alternative.
Outside, you'll find plenty of space to enjoy the fresh country air. We have a small flock of chickens and a rooster who provide fresh eggs and add to the charm of the property. The property also contains a few storage containers and vehicles used for personal storage and projects. We are currently in the process of building a shed, so there are some ongoing improvements around the property; however, this does not affect the comfort of the home or the peaceful atmosphere.
Cockatoo township is only a six-minute drive away and offers an IGA supermarket, cafés, bakeries, a pharmacy, takeaway food and other essential services. The surrounding Dandenong Ranges provide beautiful scenery, walking trails and a wonderfully relaxed country lifestyle.
Snow is the heart of our home. He is a gentle, affectionate senior White German Shepherd who loves human company, relaxing by the fire, short daily walks, car rides and, of course, plenty of pats. He does not require any prescription medications or medical treatments. As part of his daily routine, we simply add a small amount of hemp seed oil, glucosamine and collagen powder to his food to support his joints and overall wellbeing.
His care is very straightforward, and we provide a comprehensive house sitter handbook covering his feeding schedule, favourite walking route, bedtime routine, house information, local contacts, emergency details and nearby veterinary clinic.
Responsibilities include:
Caring for Snow, including feeding him twice daily, providing one gentle 10–15 minute walk each day, companionship and plenty of affection.
Collecting fresh eggs from the chicken coop.
Checking that the chickens have plenty of water (automatic feeders are in place, so feeding is generally not required).
Watering the pot plants on the deck and the small contained garden area in the backyard as required.
Bringing in the mail and, if a collection card is left in the mailbox, collecting any parcels from the local Cockatoo Post Office.
Putting the household bins out on Wednesday evening.
We're looking for someone who will care for Snow and our home as if they were their own. In return, you'll enjoy a peaceful country retreat with the company of one very loyal and lovable dog.
If you're looking for a relaxing stay in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges and enjoy the company of dogs, we'd love to hear from you.
