Assignment Requirements

There are no pets to look after but it is a country house on small acreage that will require (possibly frequent) mowing using a ride on mower. There is a small vegetable garden and some flower beds to look after and water and weed. Being a country place it may require some pest control (mice traps in the garage and shed area) from time to time and cleaning of spider webs etc. We require the place to be kept clean and as it is a new build that should not be difficult.

The primary reason we want a sitter is that a house is better occupied than left empty during long periods of owner absence.

The house sit is new shed, planned and built as a live-in shed with all modern facilities. It is fully insulated and made extremely comfortable for a couple. It has one bedroom and one bathroom but there is an extra queen bed in the lounge area. The place is fully lined, and pest proofed and has stand-alone solar with mains back up. It is connected to the NBN with high speed wi-fi and internet TV with various streaming channels. A sitter will need transport as the nearest shop and fuel is at South Riana 5 minutes away. Penguin and Burnie are 25 Minutes away and Devenport about 40 minutes. The northwest coast of Tasmania is quite magnificent with beach and kayaking, walking and bike riding opportunities. The house is situated on 40 acres which are independently managed by a local farmer. The place is quiet, with magnificent views of inland mountains to Mount Roland and a glimpse of the sea near Penguin. There are friendly neighbours nearby. There is a garage for car parking and plenty of outside parking. The house has a wood heater and even though it is a summer sit, the place is situated at 300m of altitude and may still get cold at night sometimes. Wood will be provided but the sitter may have to do some qwood splitting on an electric wood splitter.
