Mornings in Olinda often begin with a cool, misty embrace. Daily routines with a dog will naturally lead you into Olinda's extensive network of walking tracks. Olinda Falls offers a serene, shaded loop ideal for morning exercise. Explore Sherbrooke Forest, where towering messmate trees and the possibility of spotting a lyrebird enhance the experience. Post-walk, the village’s cafés provide a quiet spot for a coffee, or pick up fresh bread from a local bakery for a relaxed breakfast at home. As the week progresses, the Dandenongs open up. Weekends invite longer explorations. The National Rhododendron Gardens provide an expansive space for an afternoon stroll, even outside bloom season, with diverse plantings and sweeping views. Further afield, a short drive brings you to Sassafras for cafes and specialty stores, or Belgrave’s Saturday markets for local produce. The pace of life here encourages a quiet appreciation of nature, and an unrushed approach to daily caretaking responsibilities. Exploring beyond the immediate village benefits from personal transport. While bus routes link to Belgrave train station, a car allows easier access to the wider region’s walking trails, the R.J. Hamer Arboretum, or viewpoints like SkyHigh Mount Dandenong. This mountain life, where the scent of eucalyptus and the sound of birdsong are constant companions, makes living in someone’s home feel like a true escape, while keeping pets happy and exercised is woven into the location’s very fabric.
