Mornings in Locksley often begin with the sound of kookaburras and a crisp air. Your host's dog will likely be ready for its first stroll along the quiet lanes. These unsealed roads offer peaceful routes, winding past paddocks and scattered gums, providing ample space for sniffing and exploration without much traffic. The occasional farm gate or distant sheep will be the most exciting encounters, ensuring a gentle start to the day for both you and your canine companion. Afternoons typically settle into a slower pace. When grocery runs are needed, a short drive to Euroa or Violet Town becomes part of the routine, where you’ll find basic provisions and perhaps a small bakery. Planning meals around these trips keeps the pantry stocked and helps maintain the household rhythm established by your hosts. Returning home, the quiet hum of the countryside quickly replaces any town bustle, fostering a sense of peaceful retreat. Evenings bring a different kind of calm. A final twilight walk with your furry charge might take you down a familiar path as the sun dips low, painting the sky over the distant hills. Checking on the chickens or making sure the horses are settled for the night often rounds out the day before you can relax inside. The only 'commute' here is from the back door to the verandah, soaking in the stillness. This unhurried pace defines Locksley living.
