Assignment Requirements

We will be away for 3 weeks, and would love someone to take care of our place while we are away. Its a tranquil rural property with bird-filled gardens in close walking distance to the beautiful village of Yungaburra and just 10 minutes drive to the spectacular crater lakes (Eacham and Barrine). The house is 40 years old, but renovated and comfortable. The main bedroom is large with a newly renovated ensuite, and king-sized bed. There are 2 additional bedrooms with single beds that would suit kids. The kitchen is modern and easy to use. We have a large patio out the front with dining table and sofa and chairs, and a pool out the back.

We have two low-maintenance cats - quite young, very sweet, fully toilet trained and just needing feeding and a little human company. The large lawn needs regular mowing in the warm/wet season (we have a large ride-on mower). Its worth noting that this is the wet season. It can be quite rainy (we love the tropics and the rain), but it can also be just stunning. We don't have an air conditioner in the house, but we find the evenings are cool and fine for sleeping. We spend most of our time during the day out on the patio! We also run a B&B, and so you (and/or friends and family) can sleep in the lovely B&B rooms - all with air conditioners and ensuites - if you find it too hot.

This is the perfect place to hang out for a few weeks! Yungaburra is a beautiful little village - it really is a village, with flower baskets, old wooden buildings, fairy lights in the trees and a welcoming community. Our property is right on Peterson Creek - so a short walk through our property to the village for your morning coffee or for a meal at one of the lovely restaurants in town. Or stroll along the Peterson Creek botanical walk and spot platypus - and even tree kangaroos if you're lucky! The village has a great Foodworks shop, cafes, a pharmacy and of course the icon Yungaburra Pub! The Atherton Tablelands is a fantastic location to spend a few weeks! There is so much to do if you like nature, hiking, swimming in some of the loveliest water in Lake Eacham - kayak around the stunning Lake Barrine and then enjoying coffee and scones at the tea house. Its also a great central location for exploring further afield. And only 1.5 hours drive to Cairns. We love the multitude of rainforest walks, waterfalls, lakes and other great hikes. You have both Atherton and Malanda towns, just 10 minutes drive, and Herberton is also a lovely town, just 30 minutes drive from Yungaburra.
