Hi,

Rod and I have a comfortable welcoming and relaxed home situated on 80 acres in green rolling hills, with patches of rainforest, in the southern sector of the Atherton Tableland in far north Queensland. We are a about a 12 min drive from the nearest town of Malanda and about 30 mins driving, from Atherton. Cairns is approx 90 mins drive away. We have some neighbors but our place is very private. The house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus a powder room. We have recently renovated the kitchen, family room, main bathroom and outdoor entertainment area. We fatten cattle on our property so anyone house sitting would need to check that there was enough water in the drinking troughs and pump water into the feeder tank when necessary. We have 5 very well laying chooks and a handsome rooster who need daily feeding and water check up. We also have 2 dogs - a miniature black poodle who has converted completely from a town dog to a farm dog. Still loves lots of close attention. Loves to sit on laps. The other dog is an aged overweight kelpie who sleeps most of the time. Both of them are pretty good guard dogs. Make noise but don't bite. We also have 3 cats that have all adopted us and refuse to leave. They lie around and look decorative and leave their fur inconveniently behind. Water for the house and paddocks is sourced from a natural spring which is pumped about 3 weekly into a very large tank for the house and a smaller gravity fed one for the cattle. We have solar hot water with an electric over ride switch if the weather is too overcast. We have two SUVs for general commuting, an ATV and quad for negotiating the paddocks as well as a tractor. There is also a 12 gear push bike, a canadian canoe and 2 sit upon kayaks for having fun on the river which borders our property.

The property is within 30 mins of the MAMU Skywalk, volcanic lakes Eacham and Barrine and the Historical tin mining village in Herberton.

We would love it if someone wants to visit the area and could mind our place while they did so.
