Our rural property is about three hours north of Sydney, and 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store. It is one hectare (3 acres) in size, at the end of a cul-de-sac, with an extensive garden. We would prefer a garden-lover housesitter, but apart from your watering plants or lawns during dry-spells, it is designed for low-maintenance.

Pets:

We require a pet and housesitter to care for our two Jack Russell dogs, 4 chooks and 2 parrots. Each needs feeding & water checked daily, and the dogs need to be walked, and protected from danger such as wandering or finding trouble with wildlife such as blue-tongue lizards, goannas, or worse. We have friendly neighbours, but the fences bordering the property do not keep wildlife out, or pets in.

Household & grounds maintenance:

The house is kept clean, and functions like any other. We have town water, and solar-power. There is air-conditioning and good facilities such as a dishwasher, washing-machine & dryer, outdoor bar-b-que, spa etc. An orchard & vegetable garden use tank water.

There is a swimming pool that needs to be monitored in case rain may cause it to overfill, in which case the pump may need to be briefly switched to empty it a little. Otherwise, the pool needs maintenance like any other, i.e. there is a robot vacuum that needs to be emptied of leaves, and two filter baskets that should be checked and emptied regularly; and occasionally it may need salt added. The lawns are done by a contractor each fortnight, but they require no input, the gardeners just come and go independently.

The tennis court will need the blower used once a week to keep it in working order.

We require prospective housesitters to provide security check information.
