We have 2 staffers, both sleep indoors at night and one stays indoors during the day,they don't mind a walk, we live not far from the beach and is lovely to take a walk and grab a coffee, Autumn near the beach is quite nice, we are in walking distance to the shops and there is buses not far from our place that goes into the city, there are gyms close by too.

Our dogs are 5 and 9 ATM but will be 6 and 10 when we go away, so they aren't very boisterous
