Hi. We are Paul and Sandra and our cute cottage is located at Glencoe, 25mins west of Toowoomba and perched on the eastern side of Mt Storey. We have stunning views, moon rises and there are nearby wineries and gorgeous country towns to explore. We have 2 dogs – Border Collie and Jack Russel X , 1 cat and 6 chickens and pond goldfish.

Paul is DIDO (drive-in/drive-out) and Sandra is and artist and energy healer who studies/works remotely, and travels to stay with Paul on occasion to lesson the impact of his working away. We are looking for someone who would enjoy regular house sitting for this to happen as well as our current assignment.

This Assignment

We are looking for a house sitter interested in regular house sitting, however this particular assignment is set in stone as it’s a wedding event that we are attending from 26th to 30th October 2023.

About Our Place

We have a 1 Bedroom cottage with a queen size bed, and there is extra bedding available if required. We have Starlink Internet and the coverage is amazing – no issues. Electric cooktop/oven and washing machine and dryer available. You are welcome to bring your caravan or camper if preferable. There is plenty of vehicle space – however you need to be under 20ft for our driveway. Please see our photos. We are in the process of renovating and will add more photos as we go. There may be some garden watering as well.

We have a large deck area and a bbq for afternoon/relaxation. There is also local Reiki Practioners and Massage Therapsits.

We are a nut free home and on tank water only so we are very water wise - We have a standard top loader washing and drier for your convenience. Air conditioning is in the main living area. We are non smokers and ask that you smoke outside if a smoker. Non smoker is preferable. There are stairs at front and back of the cottage – we currently don’t have wheelchair access.

Your pet is welcome if they are used to chickens and spending time with new dogs/cats.

Our fur kids sleep indoors at night and the chickens are locked safely in their coops of an evening after free ranging during the day. We hope you will enjoy your stay at our mountain retreat under the stars that we call home.

Attractions and other things to do in our area

As mentioned there are some great things to do in the area such as nearby wineries and small country towns to explore.

Toowoomba Central is a 25min drive where you’ll find shopping centres, restaurants, cafes, public swimming pool and gyms, Art Galleries, Cinemas and golf courses. The Bunya Mountains and Jondaryan Woolshed are some great day trip attractions. There is fishing at local Cooby Dam, we have a canoe available for your use and there is a local golf driving range about 10 mins from our place.

There is a local IGA at Kingsthorpe and a take-away located at the local Gowrie One Stop Shop for fuel, general groceries etc. Kingsthorpe also has bulk bill doctors and dentist and pharmacy. Nearby Highfields boasts cafes and boutique stores, art galleries, public swimming pool, McDonalds, KFC, Aldi, Woolworths etc. And don’t forget to dine at the legendary Merringindan Pub where you won’t believe your eyes at the great food they serve. Always a favourite if you’re in the area.
