Requirements

We have a 9 year old dachshund/kelpie cross, Bismark, and a year old miniature dachshund, Tam. We also have two cats - Kenny Kenny, our eldest at 14 and a half, and Sprog who is 9. We have 6 fish tanks that will only need food during our absence as we will clean them out before we go. We live in a two-bedroom fisherman's cottage on half an acre fully fenced down a quiet no-through road just metres from the banks of the Macleay river. Our expansive verandah has a 180 degree view of the water with stunning sunrises and reflective sunsets, and at low tide, there is a sandy dog friendly beach that extends for about a 40 minute round trip.

The road is access for our small village and turns into a sandy track 300 metres beyond the house at the boat ramp.

Inside, our kitchen has been tastefully modernised and there is a serving hatch into the dining room with a water feature and established greenery that covers an archway and is accentuated by up-lights. The lounge and master bedroom have air con and all have ceiling fans.

The bathroom is spacious with a bath and shower and the laundry has another shower and WC.

Our courtyard is expansive and tiled, with shade-cloth and a grape vine overhead. There are two trellis gates so that when we go out without the dogs, they can stay in this area with access to the laundry where we place their day-bed and water.

At night, the cats sleep in the art room,(and never outside) and the dogs in our bedroom. Bismark sleeps above my head and Tam has a little bed in a box beside our bed.

We have both harnesses and leads, but it's actually better to walk them on their harnesses as they tend to pull. As a rule, we walk them off-leash on dog-friendly beaches. Stuarts Point, five minutes by car, is our nearest port of call for shopping, etc. with a very good corner store, bottle shop, newsagent, library, chemist, café and butcher. There is a huge dog-friendly beach over the bridge there, and just three minutes further along, you have Grassey Head, where there are three other beaches for the dogs to run.

Macksville is 20 minutes away - a great little town, - and Kempsey is 30 minutes down the road from us and has every shop you need. We are equidistant by one hour between Coffs and Port Macquarie.

Our neighbours are lovely and you can ask them for help at any time - that's why we so love it here - we've lived here for almost 7 years and it's the best move we've ever made!

We cherish our garden and would appreciate watering regularly. We have several taps so it's easy to get around.

From past experience, we have invited our house-sitters to stay at least overnight before we leave to understand the routine. Maybe come over for lunch prior then stay to check how we organise feeding for the animals.

We have freezers full of food plus two fridges that will be well stocked - you are welcome to use these contents while we are away, as long as we have a couple of basics upon our return such as milk for a cuppa, bread for toast, and maybe eggs for a quick snack.

We will leave sufficient food for the pets to last over our absence, some of which might be frozen, but if you need to augment this supply, we will of course reimburse you when we get back.

There is WIFI available and we have a garden spa if you are game!

All our pets are super-friendly (even the fish!) and the furry ones enjoy a cuddle. They are allowed on chairs and prefer it on your lap if you encourage them.

What more can I say??
