Are you looking for a temporary sea change? What about a tree change? You can enjoy both at once in the unique twin towns of Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest, spanning the beautiful Myall River. Enjoy a seaside escape to one of the loveliest places in Australia while looking after our two elderly dogs and an easy care garden.

We have a lovely modern house close to local amenities. Seven minutes walk to the surf beach (Bennetts Beach), 5 minutes walk to Jimmy's Beach at Port Stephens bay, 5 minutes walk to the Myall river.

Hawks Nest shops are only two blocks away and a 3 minute walk. There is an IGA grocery store with an excellent cafe, bakery/café, chemist and post office. The golf course is three blocks away and serves good meals. Tea Gardens is a 5 minute drive away (or an easy 30 minute walk) has some great cafes and restaurants. The shopping centre has a decent-sized Coles Supermarket and a local market is held in the car park on the third Saturday each month.

There is a local bridge club at Hawks Nest and a bowls club (with a Chinese restaurant) and swimming pool at Tea Gardens. If you like being out on the water you can hire a runabout or kayak locally or take a ferry ride across Port Stephens to Nelson Bay.

Our two boys are both 12 years old: a Maltese/Poodle cross called Alby and a Maltese called Zigi. Both are polite, well behaved, like to share the couch if invited up and go for short walks only - due to arthritis and old age. Medications are easy to administer, mostly in food. Both dogs are good-natured and gentle, although the Maltese is a bit of a princess and easily frightened.

The garden is easy care and watered from a spearpoint bore, except for a small fern/palm area that needs regular watering by hose. Also some pots need hand watering but not every day. There are three separate of alfresco areas so there is always somewhere shady (or sunny if you prefer) to sit and relax.

This is easily one of the most beautiful places in Australia for nature lovers. Wake up to the birds each morning and spot the dolphins in the Myall river or at Bennetts Beach. If you are not lucky enough to see a koala you will almost certainly hear one!
