Requirements

We are looking for a mature age (non-smoking) couple to house and pet sit while we take 6-8 weeks to visit family in north Queensland. We can be flexible with return date.

Our 2 dogs are desexed females ;one an 8 year old Maltese 'Bella' and the other a 9 year old English Mastiff 'Mollie'. They are very quiet and lazy. They just eat and sleep. Both sleep outside in kennels at night, but come in during the day when we are home, otherwise they have favourite places to lie in the sun when outside.

Our 4BR brick veneerhome is situated on 5 acres in southern Lake Macquarie, in a quiet bushland area. The house has ducted reverse cycle aircon and wood fired combustion heater. There's not a lot of grass to mow and we have a ride on mower. We don't have a traditional garden it's mostly native. Kangaroos visit most days and keep the grass under control. We don't feed or pat them - we just let them forage.

Outside we have a large undercover BBQ pond area. We have 8 Koi in the pond. They don't require any attention just an occassional dry feed.

For the bird-watcher, we have an abundance of birdlife - finches, Eastern Rosellas, Crimson Rosellas, King Parrots, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Sulphur Crested cockatoo, White-headed Pigeon, Wonga pigeon, Crested Pigeon, Doves, Butcher Birds, Magpie, Kookaburras, Koel, microbats and a Boobook owl who sometimes sits on the clothesline at night.

We have excellent local amenities for shopping, dining, medical care and sight seeing. Tuggerah Westfield to the south and Charlestown to the north offer all the usual stores. Morisset and Lake Munmorah offer Woolworths and Coles. The little Foodworks complex at Wyee offers local produce including cafe, fruit and veg, newsagent services, butcher and excellent deli, Doctor, Chemist and Post Office and a coffee shop in the Wyee Nursery is worth a visit. Doyalson RSL is just 5 minute drive east.

The Lake is a 5 minute drive from our house and 20 minutes to Budgewoi and The Entrance. Pick up fish & chips in Budgewoi and drive around the corner to the Reserve to eat and watch the world go by !

Lots of places to go for a bushwalk, picnic, bike ride, canoe or take the camera and whale watch.

Railway at Morisset offers fast train to Sydney and Newcastle.

send me a message if you have an interest......Denise

ps: sorry we can't have cats stay with you as we have wildlife and birds to protect
