My partner needs to have several weeks of medical treatment in Sydney. We need a sitter for our 1930s double brick house on a 3/4 acre property on a dirt road in the Bega Valley, a lovely dairy farming area. It is 5k by car to Bega (WW/Coles/Target etc). Nearest coastal town 20 mins drive away. Easy drives to stunning coastal areas and charming villages up in the hills. Our main concern is that our dog is well looked after by people who like animals. We have an 8 year old kelpie dog (he is very independent but appreciates a walk up the road daily, being fed twice daily, and given some company). We have a large tank that pumps rainwater up to the house; gas hot water; a septic system. Grass would need mowing occasionally (ride-on mower available), some trimming and tidying, garden to be watered, etc. Country people who understand about water use (not having long showers); how to switch gas tanks etc, would feel comfortable here. Very quiet, lovely and safe area surrounded by dairy farmland, cows and horses. One close neighbour. Our return date is a bit uncertain and some flexibility around this would be appreciated but we would commit to a definite minimum time period.
