We are looking for mature aged sitters, hopefully a couple, to firstly care for our two dogs, a 13 yo Golden Retriever & 9 yo Corgi who are often inside dogs (kitchen only), obedient, extra friendly & much loved. We also have a 5yo cat, also mostly inside, easy to please & who loves her food & a warm spot to sleep. Our house is large but easily heated (ducted gas plus open fire, lots of wood). Our sitters would have their own apartment which we would hope that they would settle into a week or so before we leave. Of course, they would have use of the rest of the home, the apartment would essentially be their bedroom. Departure date after we return home is very flexible - if they wished to stay on as helpers, we would be happy to discuss. We are on 1.5 acres, surrounded by lovely tall trees & nearby a National Park. Our garden is really lovely & well-cared for, with plenty of space to enjoy & be peaceful: lots of kookaburras, rosellas, king parrots, cockatoos, kurrajongs, some possums plus a visiting echidna, the odd wombat & fox. We are walking distance from the National Rhododendron Gardens & shops, cafes, restaurants, boutique shops & not far from lots of other lovely parts of the Dandenong Ranges. A car would be really useful but there is a good bus service. Apart from caring for our pets, we would like our house kept clean & tidy, nothing onerous. We do need some outdoor help, sweeping verandas, picking up fallen bark from our Mountain Ash trees, ready for burning in the Spring (& also picking up on the back lawn after our dogs - sorry!) We have a lawn-mowing service. Our Corgi loves playing with a ball (a lot!) but our old fellow just needs love, brushing, food & gentle walks - his hips are wearing out. So..........we would really appreciate house sitters who are very fond of pets, they are our first priority while we are away! We would obviously like to meet you ahead of time, find out your interests, skills and experiences, what you hope to gain by staying in our home & the lovely Dandenong Ranges over May & June, possibly longer.
