Hello Campers!

We are thinking of seeing family in Darwin and doing a bit of Barra fishing on the way from 21St March to approx. 17th April (though dates could be flexible).

We are living on a lifestyle block 50 klms from Tenterfield and the reason we are looking for someone is that we have chooks that need to fed and watered each day and also a garden that needs water from the tank. Our only request is that you don’t kill my plants from lack of water so you will to water garden daily and look after the chooks daily.

We are totally off grid. Which means only tank water and solar power. Food and hardware supplies come from Tenterfield and occasionally Bunnings Warwick. You will need to be prepared when you arrive because you cannot pop to the shop for some milk because it a 100k-return trip. It’s a day out anyway when you can have coffee or lunch at the Bowlo or drop into the locals. You can catch a movie or drop into the information centre in the main street. If you have lived in the city you probably have done these kilometres many times but with traffic lights, here your only worries are kangaroos on the road!

But it does have its advantages. There aren’t any neighbours within klms though we can see their lights at night. Views are spectacular, probably see at least 50klms over mountain and the sunsets are so vibrant. We are trying to grow our own food and this is what needs watering. The orchard is in its infancy and does have drip system on it but timer needs turning on each day and tank refilling when empty. Same goes for the native trees that I have planted along the fence line.

We have 19 chooks and 3 of these are roosters. Most of them have been bred since they were chicks and now they are adolescences and rooster just starting to find his voice and finding the girls are there for a different purpose :} Maybe some chickens in the future?

Daily we have 6- 8 eggs (some double yolkers) so that’s the last the you need to buy! If you like cooking there’s omelettes, quiches and egg custard to be made! Also, fresh vegetables to pick and eat for dinner.

We prefer you to be in your own caravan though we do offer you a self-contained cabin kitted down to the last knife and fork. It has its own water & power system (which has not been tested out yet) and compost toilet. It also has a 3 m patio with a BBQ for your convenience. But we do leave the house open so if you wish you can come up to the main house to watch tv (there isn’t an aerial in the cabin). Our only stipulation with our house is please don’t move anything, don’t drink our wine and don’t use our room.

Its easy really, your day is your own after chooks have be attended to and return back to water garden.

Ideally (this is along shot!) were looking for someone that likes what they see and would like to come back to be a regular sitter as we do go away in the past frequently.

Just message me if I have forgotten anything and have a great day!
