We are looking for a house / dog sitter this June on Thursday Island. Dates are flexible but ideally looking for someone from the 4th June until the 8th of July OR otherwise from the 20th June until approx. the 7th or 8th of July. This is the holiday season on the island with a breeze most days and low humidity.

THE HOUSE / LOCATION / CAR ACCESS

The house is (3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms) on beautiful Thursday Island in the Torres Straits and has air con in every room, free WIFI and Netflix. You would also have access to drive an automatic suzuki swift (which also has air con) Thursday Island is home to some of the best fishing including straight off the ferry warf! Thursday Island is a fantastic spot for the budding photographer with idealic views of the water and neighbouring islands from the Green Hill Fort.

ABOUT OUR DOG

Our dog is a 3 year old Standard Black Schnauzer who loves company and is very friendly. He is happy to go for walks every second day or so but really thrives on company and attention. Stanley is allowed inside the house when someone is home but not on couches or beds. He sleeps outside and would need to be fed twice a day (breakfast and dinner).

LOCAL SHOPS / SERVICES

Thursday Island is fully equipped for your day to day needs including a major hospital. Thursday Island is the main centre for everyday conveniences for the region so it is fully equipped with 2 IGA supermarkets, 3 cafes, 3 pubs, NAB bank, post office, 2 bottle shops, a public swimming pool and other local shops. It is also only a quick trip to visit other neighbouring islands such as the Pearl farm on Friday Island, the WW2 museum on Horn Island or the natural waterfalls on Prince of Wales Island.

HOW TO GET THERE...

there are direct flights from Cairns to Horn Island with Qantas. From Horn Island you take a short shuttle bus to the ferry which takes you across to Thursday Island.
